But if your piercing is crooked, it's worth it to you to get it redone. Otherwise you're likely to be bothered by it every time you look in the mirror, and no one wants that.

My piercer told me 6-8 months. Thats like a best case scenario healing process with minimal infection/swelling problems. Its a hard piercing to heal so problems are kinda inevitable. Even it you cleanse properly as often as you should, you cant control how you turn in your sleep lol. Mine took about 12-14 months to heal.
The APP does not certify piercers, piercers are members. It is a health and safety organization and has nothing to do with piercer skill. Being an APP member is a great sign that your piercing will be done in a clean and safe environment, but it doesn't guarantee that the piercer is skilled at piercing, and you should still check portfolios when choosing a piercer.

Even if your ears feel fine, doing swim lessons in 3 weeks you will run the risk of getting an infection, yes. I would postpone your swim lessons for a bit longer.
Most places that do ear piercings will unfortunately use low quality metals like surgical steel or stainless steel (which is just mixed metals mostly, but it has nickel, which you could be sensitive to), or sterling silver or 9k gold or something that's also mixed. Most things labelled as hypoallergenic are unfortunately not hypoallergenic.

Also most of the time the piercings are uneven and crooked. A tattoo shop has autoclaves on site to sterilize tools. The needles are all sterile single use but the clamps are cleaned after every use.
